Hey folks!
Been awhile since my last blog post, I know!
Kind of bittersweet, because there was a lot going on lately… both in my business and personal life…
My mom announced to us at Easter that she had to go to the hospital the week prior, to find out why she had some pain and bleeding, after which her doctor told her that she either had a serious case of Endometriosis or uterine cancer, which, in either case, she would have to have surgery to remove the uterus and possibly everything else, reproductively-speaking. Later, biopsy results showed that it was cancer. Long story short, after a few weeks of stress, nerves, worry and lots of hope and prayer, my mom is now home resting and healing since Monday, after having a successful complete histerectomy last Friday. If that weren’t already great news, the best news is that after having a pathology test to ensure that her lymph nodes weren’t affected, the doctor has confirmed that she is cancer-free!
In news related to my business, I’ve had a lot going on with new client projects starting, and finishing. A couple of weeks ago, I volunteered to work on the website for the Maplewood Historical Society and Bruentrup Heritage Farm, which is close to my heart, since Maplewood is where I live and work. I’ve met the board of directors for the society and just attended my first meeting last night. I’m excited to be offering my time and expertise to this great organization!
The Minnesota Humane Society website, a project I had done paid work for in the past. I also recently decided to help out even more by offering to do a complete re-haul of their site, which really could use it.
More details on both, coming soon!
Completed recently, are two web sites which I’m particularly proud of.
American Dream Services, Inc. is a business in St. Paul which was formed to help provide real estate services from first-time home buyer education, loan and mortgage expertise and assistance, and more, to folks in Minnesota.
Their former site was lacking a stronger marketing message, a professional and more modern look & feel, and contained information that was outdated. The client had several goals. They wanted to be able to update their site’s pages on the fly, without it being complicated, be able to offer a free e-book to anyone who would sign up to receive it and more info, plus they needed a blog set up. The new site and old site are like night and day, and the client couldn’t be happier!
Your Child’s Health & Development Journal is a site that was created for a mom of two, who had published a very special book which parents can use to not only keep track of their children’s health information, wellness records and development/growth, but also hand off to their kids as they move away from the homestead, so that they have everything they need, at their fingertips when it comes to manging and tracking their own information as adults. Using GoDaddy’s Quick Shopping cart, the book was able to be sold online simply, and included a custom template for the cart created by me to match the website pages closely, and an SSL certificate was also set up. The styling, colors and mood of the site ’s graphics and design was integrated into the site via the client’s own materials, who is also a great graphic designer. This made the job much simpler.
